After the western-backed coup in Kiev, the Crimeans voted to dissolve themselves from the new Ukrainian government of Poroshenko. The Russians annexed Crimea, and the western rhetoric called it Russian expansionism and aggression. The West placed sanctions on Russia, and OPEC waged battle. Hence the justification for today's buildup in eastern Europe.
The Crimeans are very pleased to be Russian again.
